The role of leadership in supporting training transfer, employee development, and organizational learning

My research focuses on how leaders can support employee development, the workplace application of learned skills, and the effectiveness of organizational learning in a rapidly changing labor market increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence. My work particularly examines leadership behaviors that facilitate training transfer, investigating how supervisors can support employees in applying newly acquired knowledge and skills in their everyday work. Using Experience Sampling Methodology, I explore employees’ day-to-day experiences following workplace training and examine how different forms of supervisor support relate to motivation, self-efficacy, adaptability, and performance. In addition, I investigate the leadership beliefs, organizational barriers, and motivational mechanisms underlying the presence or absence of transfer-supportive leadership behaviors. The long-term goal of this research program is to develop and test scientifically grounded yet practically applicable interventions that enhance leaders’ ability to support development, foster continuous employee learning, and strengthen organizational adaptability.
