Information for students with special needs

Students with disabilities or with chronic diseases which make the learning process difficult are entitled to certain support.

Who are students with special needs?

Based on the Hungarian law students with disabilities are those students who are living with physical disability, visual or hearing impairment, specific learning difficulties and neurodevelopmental disorders (e. g. dyslexia, ADHD), speaking disabilities, autism-spectrum disorders, or with multiple disabilities. Although the law does not include it, our university helps students with permanent medical treatment needs too, in case of conditions of special needs affecting the learning process (ELTE Academic Regulations for Students, paragraph 208, chapter XIII).

Students with special needs (disability or chronic diseases) can exercise this right by registering as a student with special needs. Registration is possible at any time, but it is recommended to do during the enrolment period.

To register, please contact the Faculty Disability Coordinator (Renata Lakos) by e-mail: eselyegyenloseg@ppk.elte.hu.

What happens during registration?

  1. Checking medical documents which certify the disability or the serious chronic disease;
  2. Completing the registration form and declarations in a face-to-face or online office hours;
  3. Information about the kind of supports and benefits.

Step 1 will give the opportunity to register in Neptune, so that you can take advantage of the right of priority for enrolment to courses in the first semester. However, registration will only be complete after all three steps.
