Aim of the program
The Pedagogy BA programme provides a comprehensive understanding of learning and teaching, combining theoretical and practical knowledge in education and related fields (e.g., psychology, educational history, philosophy, sociology, policy, and digital education). The program emphasizes interdisciplinary courses that cover the education system, modern learning theories, research methods, and equal opportunities (inclusion, child protection, educational rights). Through internships and projects, students gain insights into institutions and organizations in public, private, adult, and vocational education, as well as civil society and the private sector. The program also offers self-awareness and skills training, individual mentoring, and career and crisis counselling.
Strengths of the program
The Pedagogy BA (Bachelor of Arts in Humanities) is a 6-semester, 180-credit program. The first four semesters cover core subjects, while the final two focus on digital education.

Entry requirements
Students who have completed secondary education (school leaving certificate) can apply for the course. Those with work experience are also expected to have the same requirements.
Language requirements: (B2)
The language of instruction for the entire programme is English, so a very good command of English is required during the oral entrance exam and throughout the whole programme. The language knowledge is assessed and evaluated during the interview, the Faculty of Education and Psychology doesn't require an official language certificate.
Expected level of language knowledge: B2
The candidate should understand technical texts on unfamiliar topics, communicate with native speakers, prepare written assignments, express extended ideas, and participate actively in social communication.

The application procedure includes 4 periods in order to give the applicants the freedom to submit their application when it’s most suitable for them.
Early bird application: until January 31st - discounted application fee: 60 EUR
Regular application 1: February 1st – March 25th - regular application fee: 120 EUR
Regular application 2: April 26th – June 15th - regular application fee: 120 EUR
Last Call: June 16th – July 10th - increased application fee: 180 EUR
We do not take applications between March 26th and April 26th!
When the university receives the full application package and it is checked by the Student Affairs and Registrar’s Office an entrance exam date option will be sent in the online application system after the application deadline for the relevant period. Please, check your messages in the application system, and the e-mail address that is linked to the account regularly.
The Faculty of Education and Psychology ELTE reserves the right to cancel the entrance periods in case the number of the admitted applicants reaches the limit during the previous entrance periods.

- Secondary school certificate
The university only accepts certificates, which are equivalent to the Hungarian certificate of matriculation, thus appropriate for continuing one’s studies in higher education. If the certificate is not in English, the university requires an official translation, which may be a translation by the secondary school as well.
If the applicant completes their secondary education during the current term and their certificate is not issued before the application deadline a proof of student status / a certification issued by the institution which verifies that the applicant will receive matriculation at a specific date is required instead. In case the applicant is accepted, however, they must present their certificate of matriculation upon enrolment at the latest.

- Motivational letter
Applicants should ensure their motivation letter addresses the following key aspects. The letter should be clearly organized with an introduction, body, and conclusion, presenting ideas in a logical and easy-to-follow manner. It is important for applicants to explain their interest in the Educational Science BA program and how it aligns with future professional goals, demonstrating a clear understanding of what the program offers. They should convey their personal motivation by sharing their interests within the field of education and the reasons behind their interest, including relevant personal experiences or aspirations. Finally, the letter should be professionally written, free of grammatical, spelling, or punctuation errors, and properly formatted to make a positive impression.
The applicant is recommended to submit a motivation letter (2000 - 2500 characters)

The online entrance exam for the Pedagogy BA program is short and straightforward, lasting around 10-12 minutes. To prepare, the applicant will need to create a PowerPoint presentation on one of the following topics:
- Digital Education
- The latest PISA results
- Equity and fairness in education
- Reform, progressive, and alternative education models
- The education system in your country
During the exam, the applicant will present their topic and reflect on it, based on their literature review and resource search. The online exam begins with a brief self-introduction, followed by a 5-minute presentation of the slideshow. Afterwards, the committee will ask questions related to the presentation, as well as the applicant’s background and motivation for pursuing the program.
