Main research areas
My research focuses on the examination of the concepts describing the relationship between the person and the places (the spaces that are meaningful to the person), especially place identity. Place identity is an independent substructure of identity that is formed through the interrelationship of the person and their environment: places that are important to the person become part of their identity. As a new approach, my research focuses on the examination of place identity at the level of personality, alluding to its aspects, and to its relationship with other components of identity and with other concepts describing the place-person relationship. Examining the place identity at the level of the personality can contribute to a more subtle interpretation of the concept, and in the practical field to the examination of the person-environment fit and the improvement of its possible difficulties, moreover, to the management of its changes at the individual level.
Part of my research activity are the examination of (principally quantitative) methods that can be used in the research field of people-environment transaction, and the application of these methods in various people-environment relationship research projects.
Part of my research activity is the examination of the transactional concept of walkability, the environmental and individual characteristics, and their ecological model behind walking behaviour and choice of other mobility modes.
