Proximal Environmental Contexts and Executive Function Development in Young Children: The Role of Home and School Experiences
The research project seeks to examine the extent to which children's home and school environmental experiences shape the development of executive functions — encompassing the core cognitive processes of working memory, inhibitory control, and cognitive flexibility. Through a systematic investigation of these proximal contexts, the project aims to identify the specific practices, interactions, and environmental conditions that either facilitate or impede the emergence and consolidation of these foundational abilities, which have been consistently linked in the empirical literature to academic achievement, social competence, and positive long-term developmental outcomes
