EthixFlow is an innovative online platform that is fundamentally transforming the research ethics review process.

Research ethics approval is traditionally a process that is administratively burdensome, slow and difficult to track. In many places, research ethics applications are still submitted by email and checked manually – all of which leads to delays, unnecessary rounds of requesting missing information and a significant administrative burden for both researchers and ethics committees.

The aim of the system is to make the processing of ethical applications and approvals more transparent, faster and less administratively burdensome for researchers working in the fields of psychology, educational science and other social sciences. The platform represents a significant step forward in terms of efficiency: it shortens review turnaround times, improves traceability and reduces the risk of human error – whilst maintaining the professional rigour of ethical scrutiny.

This approach could serve as a scalable model for other higher education institutions working to modernise their research management processes. The aim is to create a system in which the research ethics application process is accessible, transparent and efficient, allowing researchers to devote their energy to what really matters: high-quality, ethically sound research.
