Founded in 2016, SIPS aims to promote methodological and structural improvements in psychological science and to encourage transparency, reliability, and inclusivity in scientific practices.
A unique feature of this year’s conference was that, apart from the opening and closing talks, all sessions were held in an interactive format: participants collaborated in workshops, hackathons, roundtable discussions, and "unconference" sessions to develop scientific tools, guidelines, and collaborations. In addition to knowledge sharing, the goal was to create concrete, practically useful outcomes.
Topics of the 2025 Budapest conference included research reliability, tools of open science, diversity in scientific communities, and the role of educational innovation in scientific reform. The professional program was crowned by a conference dinner held aboard a Danube river cruise, providing a memorable and fitting close to the event.
The aim of SIPS conferences is not just to spark conversations but to initiate real change—in fact, past events have led to several ongoing scientific initiatives. Among these are the PsyArXiv preprint repository and the academic journal Collabra: Psychology, both affiliated with SIPS. The organizers hope that the Budapest meeting will similarly have a lasting and fruitful impact on the future of psychological and social science research.
The event was supported by the University Excellence Fund.
