Juan Lupiáñez, head of the Cognitive Neuroscience at University of Granada Research Group in Spain, will give a presentation "Attention and (arousal / executive) Vigilance as measured with the ANTI-Vea task: three attentional functions and two sources of control." with title.

Human attention is a complex concept consisting of several components. The presentation in English presents an integrative model in which the three attentional functions of selection (informational selection, temporal selection, and output selection) are realized either automatically under stimulus-driven control or voluntarily under top-down control. It also describes the ANTI-Vea method, a validated tool for measuring the three attentional functions and their interactions, along with the two differentiated components of vigilance, executive vigilance and arousal vigilance. The presentation also provides an overview of the data from experiments with the task, which show that the method is suitable for separating the two components of vigilance, for characterizing the attentional performance of different populations, and for investigating how attention and vigilance can be improved or inhibited under different conditions.
